Why?
Having been a keen photographer prior to the digital resolution we had built up an extensive collection of photographs and negatives. After some photographs were found to have been damaged or deterioated due to their storage environment we decied to invest in a scanner for our outdated PC.
We soon became hooked on scanning in old photographs and making them into digital pictures. Sometimes improving the original images especially if they had slight damage.
Later on we discovered that we could make VCD presentations (in the early days there were not so many players that could play CD/DVD's. In fact there weren't that many DVDs and there was no way we could afford a DVD Burner of any great spec !)
With newer software we were able to make proffessional looking presentations of complete photosets including titles, all sorts of fancy transitions (they were fancy to us at the time) and able to include background music.
